Shippensburg University

Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, usually known as Ship, or SU, is a state funded college situated in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, United States, 40 miles west-southwest of Harrisburg, and 53 miles northwest of Westminster, Maryland. It is one of the 14 state colleges that make the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).

Shippensburg University is licensed by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSACS).

The republic enacted the State Normal School for "the instruction and preparing of instructors" in the seventh region (7 provinces) to be in Shippensburg, and in 1871 the foundation was laid[6] for the 212 ft (65 m) building assigned the Cumberland Valley State Normal School. In 1917 the school was bought by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.[citation needed]
